Ben Baker, Owner of Cutting Edge Flooring
Covenant Tile & Stone was Founded by Lifetime Prescott Resident, Ben Baker.
Ben Baker is the Owner of Covenant Tile and Stone. He is married to Cassie Bake who currently owns Cutting Edge Flooring and has been in the flooring installation business for 17 years in the Prescott area.
Ben was born in Frankfurt, Germany in 1979 while his dad was serving in the United States Air Force. They returned to Prescott, AZ when he was two years old and they’ve been living there ever since. In high school, Ben met his wife Cassie while attending church at First Baptist Prescott, and they got married in 1999. Ben has been blessed with two beautiful children. After high school, Ben worked for Lamb Chevrolet, while attending a college for General Motors to become a certified technician. After a few years of working on cars, he realized it was something that he enjoyed as a hobby but not as a career.
Ben, after that, started working in the Yavapai County Jail in Camp Verde as a Detention Officer as a hopeful stepping stone into law enforcement. After about five months, he was hired by Prescott Valley Police Department and he went through the police academy. As Ben went through the final training phases to become an officer, it was a concern of his trainers that he had a too trusting of a demeanor around people who might pose a threat. This was something that Ben was unable to correct in himself, so he resigned.
Ben still enjoyed public service and wanted to help people. He then started working with a local tile contractor who was a firefighter and began taking fire science courses. He got his EMT certification, and after that, he started testing with local fire departments and got hired as a reserve with Mayer Fire. For about three years, Ben continued to work for the tile contractor and as a reserve as he continued to test for a full-time firefighting position. He had been on the hiring list with Prescott Fire Department for five years while working for the tile contractor and as a reserve with Mayer Fire. There he decided to start a general contracting or tile installation company with a friend, called Built on Stone. It was at that point when Ben quit pursuing his fire-related career.
Ben co-owned Built on Stone for two years before he sold his half to his partner and decided to start Covenant Tile & Stone on his own in 2007. He has been able to draw on the experiences of his former jobs that helped him to provide better services to his customers as well as his employees.
Ben feels like he does more than a job. He enters into people’s homes and lives and works with them to reach common goals. He really enjoys the relationships that are built with his customers and takes pride in his workmanship that is a part of this career. He would love to partner with you in making your dream home a reality.
